OCCULT: DAILY DRAW – Seven of Pentacles

Today’s card is the Seven of Pentacles.

A youth observes a bush, on which flowers golden pentacles. They are leaning on a hoe, implying that they are the one who planted this mysterious plant and that they are the one who will reap its bounty.

The Seven of Pentacles shows promise in the future, but recommends patience in the presence. Like a delicious fruit, an opportunity must be taken at exactly the right time to maximize its potential. Take it too early, and it is a bitter failure; too late, and you have a rotten lost cause on your hands. Like a growing garden, you’ve got to put as much love and care possible towards your goals. You’ll be the first to enjoy the harvest once the time comes.

OCCULT: DAILY DRAW – Page of Pentacles

Today’s card is the Page of Pentacles.

A pentacle hovers above the hands of the page. They are enraptured, walking aimlessly, marveling at the spectacle before them. They wear a red turban and a green tunic, and walk through a grassy plain.

The Page of Pentacles is a nouveau riche, someone who has come into money for the first time in their life and has no idea what to do with it. When a genuine windfall enters your life, it’s impossible to know what to do – even spending it on frivolities doesn’t seem like enough. For the first time, you feel stability, and are able to get what you want. But the Page of Pentacles isn’t the kind of person who would mindlessly spend their money; they’re wise enough to hold on to it for as long as possible, to invest wisely, and develop further to become much, much wealthier.

OCCULT: DAILY DRAW – Four of Pentacles

Today’s card is the Four of Pentacles.

A king clutches four pentacles very close to himself: one between his arms, one balanced on top of his crown, and two underneath his feet. He’s dressed in rich red robes, but his throne is upon the edge of town.

The Four of Pentacles represents one thing: Greed! The Greedy Man, as I like to call him, is fiercely protective of his golden pentacles. There is no limit, no length that he would not go to in order to protect his wealth. But in his selfishness, he’s completely lost himself. Notice that he guards two of his pentacles by firmly planting his feet upon them – not a very respectful way to treat his most treasured possessions! He balances one of the pentacles atop his head, as well – an excellent way to have it snatched. Don’t be like the Greedy Man!

OCCULT: DAILY DRAW – Six of Pentacles

Today’s card is the Six of Pentacles.

A wealthy man, dressed fancily and holding a set of scales, distributes gold coins between two beggars. The beggars kneel on the ground with their hands outstretched; one beggar receives gold, while the other remains empty-handed.

The fundamental purpose of the Six of Pentacles is the divide between have and have not. The wealthy man is carrying a set of scales with him, as if he has meticulously measured the amount of gold he will be giving to the needy today. Only one beggar is receiving a donation, however. Even in the realm of rock-bottom beggars, there are gaps between the rich and the poor. The Six of Pentacles is a reminder to consider our finances, and to beware that one could change their status at any time. Who knows when, one day, the wealthy man might join these beggars?

OCCULT: Daily Draw – Nine of Pentacles

Today’s card is the Nine of Pentacles.

A person wearing a robe decorated with a floral motif stands in their garden, where a bloom of pentacles have come in. They hold a hooded bird on their gloved hand, admiring the bird’s beauty.

The suit of Pentacles has a rather clear series of events towards the end of its cards. The Seven and Eight of Pentacles lead to the Nine, where the hard work and patience those cards portray is rewarded with a gorgeous garden in full bloom. Patience and dedication lead to riches. But what is most interesting in this card is the hooded hawk the wealthy one has on their hand: As it is hooded, it is clearly a trained bird used for falconry. This hooded bird represents the bondage that living in the conditions the Nine of Pentacles promotes comes with. Though you are wealthy, you’re still blinded by the desires of other people.

OCCULT: DAILY DRAW – Knight of Pentacles

Today’s card is the Knight of Pentacles.

The knight is atop their black horse, wearing blued armor, and holding a pentacle before them. Their horse is especially strong and slow, and is loaded to bear.

The Knight of Pentacles knows what they want, and knows how to get it: Cold hard cash. They are careful, meticulous, and ensure that no detail is left unchecked in their quest for material wealth. This can be a downside to their quest, as their single-minded devotion to their own success can drive away others; it is doubtful the Knight minds much. Anything that gets in their way of becoming number one is just something to be plowed through.

OCCULT: DAILY DRAW – Three of Pentacles

Today’s card is the Three of Pentacles.

A mason finishes their work – three engraved pentacles in an arch – as two others look on. One in an ornate robe holds the plans for this archway, and the other, a monk, simply observes.

Labor is a reoccurring theme in the suit of Pentacles, and the Three of Pentacles is one of several cards that depict the process of creation. This card represents the finished product of hard work, especially work that requires a great amount of practice. Talent is nothing compared to good, hard work, and the Three of Pentacles shows what can be reaped from applying yourself.

The Three of Pentacles is an unusual card, because it’s the only card in the deck where the symbol of the suit is in a different color than the other cards of its kind. Instead of being rendered in gold, the three pentacles are carved from stone. What this represents, if anything, is unknown to me.

OCCULT: Daily Draw – King of Pentacles

Today’s card is the King of Pentacles.

The King of Pentacles sits on his throne, resplendent, with one foot resting on a rock. His throne is adorned with bulls’ heads; in one hand, he holds the pentacle, and a scepter in the other. His throne is surrounded by vines.

The King of Pentacles is the ultimate end goal in life satisfaction. Rich, well-to-do, and having found his place in life, the king almost looks bored with his status. Though the fruits of labor are certainly worth laboring for, one might find that life gets lonely at the top.

To note, this now the third pentacle card I’ve drawn – and the second court card. If I draw another court pentacle card I’m going to freak out.

OCCULT: Daily Draw – Ace of Pentacles

Today’s card is the Ace of Pentacles.

The Ace of Pentacles, like the other four minor aces, shows a hand emanating from a cloud holding the icon of the suit.

The Ace of Pentacles is the culmination of its suit, and represents all things of it: money, family, happiness, and being down-to-earth. The pentacles are a suit that focuses on the material world, and the ability to keep what you have inside it. How are you doing, money-wise? Are you making sure you don’t spend too much?

OCCULT: Daily Draw – Queen of Pentacles

Today’s card is the Queen of Pentacles.

This Queen typically suggests a dark and serious woman, whose intelligence has lead her to her lofty position. She examines a pentacle in her hands, carefully contemplating its essence.

The Queen of Pentacles signifies the intelligence it takes to acquire what you both want and need. By never becoming complacent with what you have, you’ll always be able to find what you really need in life. Always be critical of your surroundings, your belongings, and your self.
